Rising Demand for Private Jet Charter Services

Thanks to the growing security chaos at the airports, companies now increasingly prefer to travel through private charter jets.

According to a survey conducted by Air Charter Guide, there was an 80 percent increase in business-related bookings of private jet charters within two weeks of Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks when commercial airlines were hijacked to ram into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Similarly, private jet service companies reported a rise in demand from their customers, both old and new, following a terror alert in the UK.

Following 9/11 and the subsequent increase in terror threats, stringent security checks at the airports have made the whole experience of traveling even more frustrating and exhausting.

One has to endure long queues, all kinds of checks and intimate body searches to board an aircraft. Confiscation of even petty things such as nail clippers and tweezers has become a common sight at the airports.

Hence, when we explore the reasons why more and more people are now preferring to travel by private charters flights instead of commercial flights, despite the obvious difference between costs, the reasons are quite a few:

•    In the wake of terrorist attacks, security is unquestionable. In a private air charter, you know exactly who the pilot is, what type of baggage is on board and who the fellow passengers; if any, on the flight are. This provides the much needed peace of mind.

•    Time is money for business travelers. Private charters have become even more popular among top corporate executives whose time is too valuable to waste in long queues. There is no question of delayed or cancelled flights; as the private flight is scheduled only at the time you want. In fact some organizations don’t mind spending an extra bit on arranging private jets for their senior staff too apart from their top executives.

Spice Up the Holidays With a Cruise Vacation

Holiday cruises are gaining in popularity, and cruise lines have responded with a wide variety of itineraries to suit every taste. Whether it’s a Christmas gift for Mom or a way to escape the hectic rush of December, a cruise provides an excellent value and a perfect chance to spend quality time with the family.

Cruise vacationers don’t have to leave their traditional holiday observances at home, either. In addition to special holiday festivities, entertainment and decorations, on-board clergy conduct Catholic, Protestant and Jewish services. Some ships also accommodate Kwanzaa celebrations.

“It’s a great time to cruise because the kids are out of school and the grandparents can come along, too,” said Gloria Sanderson of Chicago.

Sanderson says cruising over the holidays with three generations of Sandersons has become a new family tradition.

“The important thing is being together,” she said. “We still have a big holiday dinner with all the trimmings, but without having to cook and clean up.”

A wide selection of holiday cruises ranging from seven to 21 days is available from Holland America Line. Most sailings are in the warm blue waters of the Caribbean, and most of those call at Half Moon Cay, Holland America’s private Bahamian island.

Additionally, Holland offers a cruise along the Mexican Riviera and, for the ultimate white Christmas, the line’s Amsterdam flagship will spend Christmas with the penguins, visiting Antarctica on December 25.

Holland America’s on-board festivities include holiday decorations, special movie showings, traditional dinner selections, religious services and a Christmas show by the crew on Christmas Eve. The line also arranges to broadcast some college bowl games on board the ship.

“There are facilities and programs for the kids, and plenty of different activities for us and the grandparents,” said Doug Sanderson, Gloria’s husband. “We can be as active or relaxed as we want, and it’s a lot warmer on a cruise than it is in Chicago!”

Sierra Nevada Resort in the Costa Tropical, Andalucia

The Sierra Nevada Mountains are one of the most popular tourist attractions in Andalucia. The Sierra Nevada resort has much to offer but the primary attraction is Skiing. This is the major ski resort in all of Costa Tropical and one of the best in Spain. The Sierra Nevada resort is situated in the Penibetic mountain range deep in the heart of Andalucia. It is the southern-most ski resort in Europe and has some of the highest peaks in the Iberian Peninsula. The Sierra Nevada resort falls under the municipalities of Guejar Sierra, Monachil, and Dilar in Granada. The village in the resort is known as Pradollano and it is situated at an altitude of 2,100m.

Ski Courses at the Sierra Nevada resort

There are different ski courses offered at the Sierra Nevada resort that have been created by both American and European specialists. These courses include skiing over 61kms of snowy slopes that is spread over 39 different types of ski runs including 6 spectacular off-course trails.

With a vertical drop of 1,300m, the Sierra Nevada has snow areas that cater to different types of skiers. So whether you are a beginner or an expert, you can enjoy skiing here. These are the same slopes that were used during the World Alpine Ski Championships in February 1996 in Spain.

Ski Lifts in the Sierra Nevada resort

There has been a new change in the Sierra Nevada resort in Costa Tropical with the introduction of a new chairlift that replaced the previous Montebajo lift. With this new introduction, the carrying capacity of the lifts has increased to 31,965 passengers in an hour. This commendable achievement has been made possible with the help of 19 lifts including 12 chairlifts (4 of them are detachable), 2 gondolas, and 5 ski lifts. The ski lifts are operational for public use from 09.00am to 0430pm everyday although you should always check their schedule especially during bad weather conditions. These lifts also operate on Friday and Saturday evenings for night skiing.

Choosing Your Vacation Walking Shoes

Carefully chosen walking shoes will make a world of difference on your vacation. Your feet are as unique as your personality so just any old shoes won’t do.

Here are some tips to help you choose the right walking shoes for you.

Find an athletic store that has qualified people who can evaluate your walking gait. They can then point you toward a shoe that will match your style.

Your feet will swell on a walk. So pick a walking shoe that is about a size bigger than you usually would buy. Or, if possible, try on your shoes after a long walk.

Fit your shoes while wearing the same socks that you will be wearing on your vacation.

Consider the type of walking you will be doing. Hiking boots are good for poorly maintained trails, off trail or cross country hikes. But they are heavy and stiff. Stick with walking or running shoes for walks on paved or maintained trails.

Make sure there is room at the toes and the sides. Even a small amount of rubbing will produce blisters.

Cushioned shoes provide comfort and are great for non rugged walking surfaces. They usually have a little less support.

Lightweight is important when you are walking all day. You can afford to give up a little support for light weight when you are walking on pavement or maintained trails.

Avoid flared soles and heels that are more than an inch higher than the sole in front. These types of shoes are not good for a walker’s gait.

You want a flexible shoe that will twist and bend at the ball of the foot.

If you have wide or narrow feet make sure that you get a shoe that is sized for you. Don’t settle for a standard width shoe. You will regret it.

Traveling in Asia is Affordable

The sight of new and different items on display and the excitement of open air markets and colorful shops makes shopping in Asia a unique and fun experience. Not only will you see goods that are different and hard to come by in the west, but you’ll find prices much different than those you’re accustomed to, and different from prices seen when traveling to other regions, like Europe.

In China, clothing costs about four or five times less than in European countries. However, the sizing system is much different than in the U.S.  A woman who wears a size medium in the United States will find herself browsing the extra large section of the department store. It is wise to try everything on to make sure it fits before buying, and carefully consider the size of any clothing item you plan to purchase as a gift for someone else.

In India clothing can be had for about half the price that it would cost in European stores, if you know where to shop. For example, on Mumbai’s Fashion Street, surplus from the city’s clothing factories can scooped up at bargain prices.

It is best to purchase clothing made by famous European designers in Europe. Taxes and duties on imported goods in Asian countries tend to drive the prices up. An exception is Hong Kong, where goods are not taxed and the prices are often comparable to the European prices.

Naturally, Asian goods of all kinds are considerably cheaper in Asian countries than in Europe.  For example, Chinese chops, which are name stamps usually used with red ink, can be found in many shops catering to tourists for about $5. The purchaser’s name is normally carved into the chop at the store. The same item would cost around  $40 outside of China.

Making the Best Use of Disney Timeshares

Timeshare resorts are a good choice for people who would like to enjoy a luxurious vacation for a very lower price.  Disney timeshares are for the people who would like to go to Disney World on a consistent basis.  There are many a number of member discounts offered to the people who have invested in the Disney timeshares to souvenirs, restaurants, discounts on park fees and lot more.  Disney timeshares can be passed on to the children or make them avail the points while the owner is alive. It all depends on how to use it.  There are a number of Disney vacation timeshare re sales available at a much lower cost, but there is no guarantee as they are not connected with Disney.  It is good to do a thorough research online.

The Walt Disney vacation timeshare resorts are based on the point system mostly.  The timeshare owners are eligible to use their vacation advantages in any of the five branches of the Disney vacation resorts worldwide.  If a family has earned more than 230 points, it is eligible to stay for a week in the resort.  The best thing about the Disney vacation timeshares is that there are no black out dates, but the person has to book far in advance to avail a room at the resort of his choice.  Another advantage is that one agent and one phone number are all needed to make arrangements including the transportation reservations and for the restaurant reservations.  All most all the locations of the Disney vacation timeshares are up to the four and five star mark, but meant only for those who make use of most of the points and also during popular period of the year, one has to spend more points on it.
